Field Trip
The field trip departs Winnipeg at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 27 and returns to the city by 5:30 p.m.
The $50.00 fee includes transportation, a bagged lunch, interpretive tours and entrance to the facilities.
The field trip makes the following stops:
The Village at Broken-Head Ojibway First Nation
Guided tours of the following three attractions will be given by Elders from the community:
- Tour of the tipi village and a discussion of the traditional ways of life;
- A presentation on the historical background of the community including the Clan System with a special discussion on the importance of the Caribou Clan; and,
- A tour of the trail system along the river with demonstrations on the gathering and uses of medicinal plants.
Oak Hammock Marsh
Oak Hammock Marsh is a focal Manitoba attraction for waterfowl enthusiasts. The visit includes:
- a tour of the facility’s large interpretive centre;
- a visit to the viewing platform;
- walks along a number of trails throughout the marsh; and,
- interpretation of the marsh history and waterfowl.
